Abstract

Introduction The Maasai people, known for their rich cultural heritage, have historically inhabited the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), renowned for its biodiversity and unique ecosystems.Method A random survey (n = 308) was conducted, with the number of households surveyed varying according to village population size. Results The findings regarding the Maasai relocation from NCA revealed that 46.4% of respondents viewed the relocation as voluntary, while 53.6% disagreed. Factors such as gender, education, and age significantly influenced these perceptions. Conclusion Our findings shed light on the complexities surrounding the Maasai relocation, providing valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders involved in similar initiatives.
