article
We present here a review of coordination polymers with ligand (4′-(2-carboxyphenyl)-4,2′6′,4′′-terpyridine, including structural heterogeneity, magnetic and luminescent activity, and applications. Drawing on results from a variety of experiments, the present work is a comprehensive review of how the ligand assembles with cobalt, zinc, cadmium, and lanthanide metals to construct coordination structures. Specified contributions on synthetic strategies, structural properties, and functions such as magnetism and luminescence are given. Final thoughts focus on next steps for research and the ligand’s larger material science implications.
