Comparative Performance Analysis in NOMA and Cooperative NOMA with SWIPT

Abstract

5G wireless technology supports a higher density of user connections than previous cellular networks, offering multiple access options, including Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA), and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA). NOMA is particularly advantageous for 5G because it allows multiple users to share frequency, time, and code domain resources, enhancing spectrum efficiency and network capacity. This paper explores the integration of NOMA with Cooperative NOMA and Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer (SWIPTNOMA) to address key challenges in 5G, including power efficiency and network reliability. By enabling user cooperation and simultaneous data and energy transfer, the proposed SWIPT-NOMA approach reduces battery dependency for devices and extends battery life, especially for users with weaker connections. Quantitative results demonstrate that the SWIPT-NOMA system improves Bit Error Rate (BER) performance, increases energy efficiency, and enhances overall system capacity, establishing it as a superior option for robust 5G connectivity.
