Comparative Analysis of the Strength and Safety Impacts on Industrial Conveyor Belt Maintenance Planning

Abstract

Conveyor belt strength and safety conjecture using numerical methods is the biggest problem to analyst and quality estimators due to the selection of loads and validation. The work engaged simulation for prediction and numerical details validation of the simulated results. The simulation applied to cyclic loading and von mises stress analysis to determine the stress, appreciable displacement and factor of safety with no deformation stating elastic limit sustainability. The minimum and maximum values observed shows load, displacement, and von-misses stress increased factor of safety from minimum to maximum as the load rises. However, numerical safety factor decreases as the load rises. The simulated and numerical safety, equally validated. This implies yield strengths both von-misses and designed are proportional to the stress and the safety factor. Based on the preferred load on a typical conveyor belt, considering the safety and strength factor; the economic life of the conveyor belt can be determined, reliable, made available, maintainable, sustainable and no impact risk. Hence, safety and strength impact of a component carefully selected loads will enhance maintenance planning decisions, and outstanding to validate predictions to avoid the imitation of reality effects
