CNSM-04 Cystic metastasis of the posterior cerebral fossa mimicking a haemangioblastoma: Case report and review of the literature

Abstract

Abstract Background Cerebral metastases are the most common brain tumours in adults [1, 2]. Cerebellar metastases account for approximately 12% of all brain metastases [3]. Cystic brain metastases are relatively rare, and the pathogenesis of cyst formation is unclear [4]. Case description We present the case of a 62-year-old man with this condition. Initial symptoms were intracranial hypertension with right statokinetic cerebellar syndrome. Investigations revealed a cystic process. The patient underwent surgery and was referred to oncology for further management. Conclusion This case highlights the importance of an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to the management of brain tumours, particularly brain metastases.
