Case report neurotoxoplasmosis in an AIDS patient presented with multiple space occupying lesions mimicking malignancy

Abstract

Abstract Toxoplasmosis associated HIV infection manifests primarily as toxoplasma encephalitis and is a frequent cause of focal CNS lesions. Herein we present a case of an AIDS patient who presented with headache, altered mental status and motor weakness, the MRI features represented multiple- ring enhancing lesions mimicking malignancy. The purpose is to increase awareness regarding the diagnosis of neuro-toxoplasmosis and to alert physicians, neurologists, and infectious disease specialists to the diagnosis, and differentiate the disease from cerebral lymphoma or metastatic CNS lesions.
