Behavioral Insights into Corporate Governance: A Global Bibliometric Mapping

Abstract

This research presents an extensive and comprehensive bibliometric analysis to explore the potential of the behavioral approach to corporate governance from 2019 to 2023. To investigate the core areas of interest, flashpoints, future opportunities, and emerging trends related to corporate governance’s behavioral aspects, we conducted a quantitative analysis using bibliometric tools. This study examines 500 publications sourced from the Web of Science (WoS) central collection database. Using software such as Bibliometrix R and VOSviewer, our analysis highlights trends and offers a comprehensive overview of various research areas, including publishing performance, top articles, prominent authors, national and institutional productivity, and knowledge structure about current hot topics and emerging trends. The findings emphasize the potential for further research in the behavioral dimension of governance, with resource-based view theory, firm behavior, and agency theory forming the basis for most of these studies. Furthermore, remarkable increases in scientific research have been observed lately, with 129 articles produced in 2022. The most regularly employed keywords in research include “corporate governance” and “corporate social responsibility”. The results offer a thorough grasp of advancements, deficiencies, and potential paths for future research in the field of corporate governance.
