This dataset contains the de-identified baseline round of the ENDIP study (Extruded Nutrient-Dense Instant Porridge), which evaluated a grain amaranth–based extruded instant porridge for children with moderate acute malnutrition in northern Tanzania. It holds one record for each of the 306 children enrolled and analysed in the study, measured before any intervention was given. Children aged 6–59 months were recruited from 12 health facilities across Arusha City Council, Arusha District Council and Monduli District Council in Arusha Region. Data were collected by interviewer-administered questionnaire with the child's caregiver, together with anthropometric measurement of the child. The 112 variables cover household composition, parental education and occupation, dietary and feeding practices, breastfeeding history, immunisation and clinic attendance, recent illness, and water, sanitation and hygiene conditions, alongside baseline weight, height, MUAC and WHO z-scores. Binary outcomes for stunting, underweight and wasting follow standard WHO cut-offs. The deposit includes the dataset in CSV (coded and labelled versions) and Stata format, a full variable codebook, and a README documenting the de-identification procedure and known data quality issues. Direct identifiers, dates of birth and sub-facility geography have been removed; the original participant identifiers were replaced with arbitrary anonymous codes
