Abstract: Security challenges inherent in mobile networks have persisted across multiple generations, including the upcoming 6th Generation (6G) mobile networks. Therefore, research focused on protocols and techniques for authentication in 6G networks is essential to enhance overall security. This paper aims to review existing research on authentication methods for mobile networks and examine proposed solutions found in the literature. Additionally, it compares and analyzes various protocols and frameworks that could be implemented in the future. Potential limitations and shortcomings are identified to provide a foundation for further research.
