Artificial intelligence and human capital development of employees of selected commercial banks in Enugu state.

Abstract

This study is on artificial intelligence on human capital development of employees of selected commercial banks in Enugu state. The main objective of this study is to ascertain the effect of artificial intelligence on human capital development of employees of selected commercial banks in Enugu state. The specific objectives were to determine the effect of natural language processing on skills development of employees to ascertain the effect of computer vision on career development of employees of selected commercial banks in Enugu state. The study employed descriptive survey design. The population for the study was one thousand, one hundred and fifty (1150) staff of the financial institutions used for the study, a sample size of 288 was determined using the Freund and William's statistic formula. The main instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. Frequency distributions, percentages, means, and standard deviations were calculated for each survey question to summarize the data and understand the central tendencies and dispersion. A One-Sample t-test was performed to test the hypotheses developed for the study with the aid of SPSS version 26. The results of the study revealed that natural language processing does have a significant positive effect on the skills development of employees and also that computer vision does have a significant positive effect on the career development of employees in commercial banks in Enugu state. It was concluded that the integration of AI technologies like NLP and computer vision is pivotal in driving human capital development in the banking industry. It was recommended among other things that banks should further integrate natural language processing tools into their operations to enhance employee skills development, focusing on continuous training and upskilling to keep pace with technological advancements and improve overall job performance.
