Antenna Array Design for 28 GHz Millimeter-Wave 5G Communication Systems

Abstract

This study presents the development of an antenna array specifically designed for 5 G millimeter-wave communication systems. The array comprises four antenna elements, Constructed using a Rogers RT5880 substrate with a thickness of $\mathbf{0. 4 5} \mathbf{~ m m}$, characterized by a dielectric constant of 2.2 and a loss tangent of 0.0009, the antenna operates in the 28 GHz frequency band, which is allocated for 5 G millimeter-wave communications, each element achieves a gain of 6.35 dB. The overall gain is significantly increased to 13.06 dB when these elements are arranged in an array. The design offers promising performance for millimeter-wave $\mathbf{5 G}$ communication applications.
