ANALYSIS OF MONTHLY INCOME AND ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTIONS OF ACADEMIC STAFF IN SELECTED PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN OSUN STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract

This study analyzed monthly income and entrepreneurial intentions among academic staff in selected private Universities in Osun state. The study was analysed descriptively using frequency and percentages. The sample size of this study was calculated using the Taro Yamane with 95% confidence level through the distribution of 223 questionnaires answered by academic staff of the selected four private Universities in Osun State. Findings from the study revealed that income level is a major reason for developing entrepreneurial intentions as against the general believes that academic staff irrespective of their income level and cadre may or may trigger entrepreneurial intentions as a window of opportunity to meeting their ever increasing needs. The study recommends that governments should enact laws and put the necessary institutions in place that could further encourage entrepreneurship among academic staff of private Universities; this will deepen the inclusion of this sector of the national working force in contributing to economic growth and development.
