AbstractThe study systematically examined the environmental, economic, and health implications of the failure to enforce zero-gas flaring in the core Niger Delta, specifically in Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers State, particularly in oil-producing communities. It employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. The quantitative analysis combined descriptive statistics, such as percentages, with inferential statistics, such as chi-square, which are measures of association. Qualitative data were analysed using thematic and content analysis. The main finding was that there is a significant impact on the environment, economy, and health in the core Niger Delta due to the high volume of gas flared and theassociated carbon emissions resulting from the failure to enforce zero-gas flaring.
