An Efficient H-Reduction Protocol for the Synthesis of Novel (Benz)imidazole-allyl Alcohol and Imidazole-1,3-diol Derivatives

Abstract

An efficient and practical procedure for the synthesis of two novel series of (benz)imidazole-allyl alcohol and imidazole-1,3-diol derivatives by regioselective reduction of the corresponding (benz)imidazole-ketone derivatives using NaBH4/CeCl3·7H2O is herein reported. The target products were obtained in high yields under mild conditions (0 °C) and in EtOH as a green solvent.
