Adopting AI in Education

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is profoundly transforming the way we live and work, raising ethical, legal, and social questions. This chapter examines the technical and ethical implications of AI in education. Technical challenges are categorized into three key areas: infrastructure and implementation, data collection and management, and the development of tailored algorithms. A contextualized approach and customized training are essential to avoid inappropriate pedagogical decisions. Critical ethical issues include privacy protection, equity, and transparency of AI systems. Three strategic axes for the ethical adoption of AI are presented: establishing appropriate regulatory and policy frameworks, training and raising awareness among relevant stakeholders, and the ethical design of AI systems. The chapter concludes with perspectives on integrating AI into immersive learning environments, requiring a systemic redesign of pedagogical approaches, teacher training programs, and educational curricula.
