Achieving Energy Sustainability in Nigeria’s Telecommunications Industry through Renewable Propane

Abstract

Nigeria's telecommunications sector plays a significant role in the economy, but it faces energy challenges due to an unreliable national power grid. The industry relies heavily on diesel generators, leading to high operating costs, increased greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental harm. Renewable propane offers a cleaner and more cost-effective energy source that can integrate well with existing systems. This study examines how practical it is to use renewable propane in Nigeria's telecom industry by looking at its technical, economic, and environmental advantages. Compared to other energy sources like solar, wind, battery storage, and hydrogen fuel cells, renewable propane proves to be more reliable and less expensive. The study also reviews policy support, government incentives, and funding options to promote its adoption. Key strategies for accelerating this energy transition include partnerships between public and private sectors, investing in local production, and combining propane with solar and battery storage solutions. By embracing renewable propane, Nigeria's telecom industry can reduce carbon emissions, improve energy security, and meet international climate goals. This change not only supports sustainable operations but also positions Nigeria as a leader in green telecom technology.
