Carotid artery stenting (CAS) is a well‐established treatment for patients with carotid artery stenosis and tandem vessel occlusion. Over the years, advancements in stent design have led to the development of dual‐layer stents, which aim to enhance embolic protection and reduce the risk of in‐stent restenosis and other complications. Despite the theoretical benefits of dual‐layer stents, the evidence comparing their efficacy and safety to single‐layer stents remains limited and inconclusive. This meta‐analysis aims to compare the outcomes of dual‐layer and single‐layer stents in terms of stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA), major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE), in‐stent re‐occlusion, and mortality, providing clarity on whether dual‐layer stents offer superior outcomes for patients undergoing CAS.
