This paper presents a novel, programmable CMOS-based fuzzy membership function circuit for generating bell-shaped curves. The circuit leverages a differential pair configuration to produce accurate bell-shaped membership functions, utilizing multiple input reference voltages (Vref) and a single output current. Its programmability enables precise fine-tuning of membership function parameters, ensuring adaptability across diverse fuzzy logic applications. Simulations conducted in LTspice with 45nm CMOS technology demonstrate the circuit’s high accuracy, flexibility, and minimal power consumption of 11μW. The design’s compactness and efficiency make it particularly suited for low-power, real-time embedded systems. By addressing key challenges in fuzzy logic hardware implementation, this work contributes a scalable and efficient solution for advancing intelligent systems requiring reliable and customizable membership function generation.
