A Multiport Bidirectional LLC Resonant DC-DC Converter for Vehicle-to-Grid Applications

Abstract

LLC dc-dc converters are renowned for their high power density and their ability to achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) over a wide operating range. However, traditional LLC converters lack support for bidirectional power flow and simultaneous power transfer to multiple ports. This paper proposes a high-performance, multiport bidirectional LLC resonant converter designed for emerging vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications. The proposed converter extends conventional LLC architectures into a multiport topology, enabling concurrent bidirectional power exchange between multiple sources and loads. The design is validated through comprehensive PLECS-based simulations.
