A Modified ABC Algorithm For The Best Placement Of DG Units

Abstract

The strategic placement of distributed generation (DG) units effectively addresses client needs while minimizing power loss and voltage variations, especially during peak demand periods. This study investigates the best possible position of DG inside electrical systems. It introduces an improved idea designed to minimize total active and reactive power losses and overall voltage deviation. This work proposes the use of an improved Artificial Bee Colony method to tackle this multi-objective issue. This advanced method employs the opposite of the original solution, essentially doubling the population search space from the beginning and increasing the variety of outcomes. This work checks the efficacy of the proposed algorithm relative to previous techniques using the IEEE 69-bus distribution grid. Besides, this paper uses the backwards-forward sweep (BFS) approach to examine load flow. The findings demonstrate that the suggested $A B C$ algorithm surpasses other current algorithms.
