A Hybrid Chaos-Based Approach for Securing Color Images Using Sine and Logistic Maps

Abstract

This paper proposes an innovative method to enhance the security of color images by integrating hybrid cryptographic techniques, specifically using Sine maps and a double application of the Logistic map. The proposed method aims to encrypt a color image in several distinct phases. During the first phase, the image would be converted into an M×N matrix. Before applying the Sine map, a bit permutation of the image is performed to increase confusion and effectively prepare the data for the next step. In addition, the Sine maps generate sequences for every color channel: red, green, and blue. We apply a bit-by-bit XOR operation between the matrix and the sequences, combining the results to obtain an encrypted image. In the second phase, the Logistic map is applied to the image that comes from the first phase. This step follows the same procedure as the sequence generation with the Logistic maps until the encrypted image is obtained. The final phase of the proposed method involves reapplying the Logistic maps to the image from phase 2, with modified Logistic map parameters. A comparison with established techniques demonstrates how effective the recommended strategy is in terms of both security and computational efficiency. Experimental results show resilience against various attacks, providing insights for practical integration into image security frameworks.
