2.4 GHZ SLOTTED ANTENNA FOR WIFI APPLICATIONS

Abstract

Present here is the design of a simple 2.4 GHz microstrip antenna for use in WiFi systems. This was carried out on FR-4 substrate which is a common material and readily available. The FR-4 is cheap and popular with antenna designs. The proposed design was simulated and optimized with commercially available Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software for electromagnetic simulation. The design incorporates a slotted rectangular shape on the ground plane that gave a marginal improvement in the antenna properties. The proposed design achieves a good gain and directivity. The antenna's optimal dimension is 47.99 mm by 39.34 mm, respectively. The highest gain and directivity of the suggested antenna, which operates at 2.4 GHz, are 3.04 dB and 5.55 dB, respectively.
